Welcome to eera – the epidemiology, economics and risk assessment group.

We are based at the Roslin Institute, part of Edinburgh University’s veterinary school.

We study disease in animal populations to improve animal and human health

Our work involves field studies in the tropics, Europe, farms and markets throughout the United Kingdom; laboratory analysis and computer based modelling and simulations.

We answer questions as simple as ‘Is the population diseased?’  to as complex as long time-scale exotic disease import risk predictions.
